CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them.”

We minister to our children in many ways.  Sunday School is an important way (see below).  Jane Jermac is our Children’s Ministry Director.
We give Children’s Bibles to 1st graders at the beginning of each school year.  We give Gift Bibles to confirmation class (mainly 8th graders) when they join the church.
Each Winter/Spring we have a First Communion Class which teaches the meaning of Christ’s death and resurrection as well as the meaning of communion, so children can know what they are doing when they take part and it may be more meaningful to them.
In the summer we offer Vacation Bible School  which teaches children Bible stories, memory work, crafts, games and they take part in a mission project.

CHILDREN ARE A PART OF OUR WORSHIP-
We baptize children- welcoming them into our church family (there are 7 household baptisms in the New Testament)- this not only dedicates them but welcomes them into the family of faith in hopes that they will grow up to claim the faith for themselves.
We have Children’s Sermon to relate children to our worship- all ages may take part.
We have Children’s Church for 3 years to Kindergarten(room 205).
CHILDREN’S CHOIR meets at 8:25 in the Choir room each week and sings at least once a quarter.  Dr. Janet Roberts leads this ministry.
Don’t forget our Girl Scouts (elementary age), Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts (see our Scouts page in the tab).

The children in our church are taught the importance of socialization (fellowship) and missions from an early age as well as Bible content.
The children bring corn for the Thanksgiving at the HUB meal.  Children often take part in We Care food drives, the Justin Pepper Toy Drive (first Sat in Dec.), and in Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse.

We are building a new Children’s Ministry Building with a goal of finishing June 2014.  This will make dedicated preschool and Sunday School space for children (now we sometimes double or triple up during the week with adults/youth).  This will also allow us to begin new children’s ministries that we cannot do now (because of building code requirements)  like- after school care and full time daycare.  We hope to have a State of the Art Children’s Ministry Building to go along with our state of the art Children’s ministry that we have going on now!

NURSERY- IS PROVIDED FOR SUNDAY SCHOOL, CHURCH, SOME BIBLE STUDIES AND our All-Church events.  It is in the middle building (Fellowship Hall building) room 204. Jenifer Williams and Kristen Lamkin are our paid nursery workers there about each Sunday and volunteers assure good care and safety.
