We are so excited to provide this opportunity to be a participant in International Mission work. This is a life-changing experience and trip. We especially encourage young people to go. So the Missions Committee and Missions Endowment Committee are helping send people on the trip. The original cost is $3,000. But missions has guaranteed to pay $1,000 of that through their fundraiser monies. In addition the Mission Endowment has voted to give another $6,000 to this trip- which we would divide among participants. The only caveat is that the endowment committee suggested that participants pay at least $300 so that they will be committed to the trip and work.
We will be going to Isuitos Peru July 26- August 3, 2013. This will be our fourth mission trip to Peru as a church.
We are doing this in partnership with Medical Missions Inc. which founded the Presbyterian churches there and built the buildings, and facilities where we will be staying. Dr. Francis Burriss, founder and director of Medical Missions, is former pastor of our church.
We are also doing this in coordination with Amazon Mission Fellowship . Ray Peterson is our board representative to AMF. AMF has a new missionary couple, the Bodmans, who will be heading up the mission work.
A typical Schedule would be:
7/26- Fly to Peru out of Miami.
7/27- Recover, meet pastor Guillermo.
7/28- Join the Iquitos church in worship- speak in worship.
7/29- 8/1- Do Vacation Bible School work, Maybe some library work; get to know people; Negotiations on partnership at night.
8/2& 3- Fly back to USA
