Presbyterian Women

Thank you to all who helped with the Rummage Sale!  We had thousands come by- and everything was priced and sorted wonderfully.  Despite the rain we raised about $7,500!

The Presbyterian Women offer four different “circles” that meet monthly.  Each circle is a great place for fellowship, Bible study, and missions work. The newsletter or bulletin have circle dates and info about PW events.

In addition to circles, there are other women’s groups that meet:  Crafty Ladies – 1st and 3rd Tuesday 9:30am in class behind the gym.  Knit Wits –  every Wednesday at 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall- and welcomes any level of knitter.  Garden Buddies –  as needed to beautify the church grounds. Contact Lou Ann Summers louasummers@aol.com.

The women have annual gatherings at Christmas and in the Spring.

The women also have two big fund-raisers.  A rummage sale in the Spring, and a bazaar in the fall. In the 2011 rummage sale we raised over $7,900 for PW mission causes and scholarships!

Betty Bobb Scholarship- in memory of Betty Abney Bobb who died 12/23/1992.  Helps LMPC students who are attending Presbyterian USA colleges/universities or seminary.  Applications are available in the church office starting in February and are due back in April.

Birthday Offering- Began in 1922 on the tenth birthday of the PWs.  Women are urged to put a certain amount in according to their birthday to support national and global mission projects.  Offering is taken in May.

Blessing Box offering- A SC PW Offering for students going to seminary at Columbia Seminary in GA or Presbyterian College in Clinton.

Fellowship of the Least Coin- to work among Christian women in the world- this is an inter-denominational effort.

Westminster Fellowship- our PW makes cookies and a meal  for the PCUSA student association at USC.

Circle goals- to enlist every woman for Christ; to provide personal and group fellowship; to pray together; to study the Bible together; To invite each woman to serve God through use of her individual abilities; to bring persons into an awareness of support; to help those outside of the church to know Christ and bring them into the fellowship of the church.
